Joshua Putnam founded JPA with a commitment to thoughtful, well-crafted, and no-nonsense architecture rooted in place and purpose. He began his professional career at CD Architecture in Raleigh while studying at the NC State College of Design, later returning to the firm in 2022 as a partner. With more than a decade of experience, Joshua has worked across Federal, Educational, Preservation, and Private market sectors, bringing a balanced understanding of design rigor, technical execution, and client collaboration.
As a new, local practice, JPA is services through a boots-on-the-ground approach—taking the time to understand the unique challenges and dynamics of each project and delivering architecture that is authentic, responsive, and enduring.
Outside the studio, Joshua is a gardener, maker, and amateur farmer. He lives in Hollywood, South Carolina with his wife and their son, William Forge, where they are building and settling into a growing homestead.
